Fire Prevention

First I would like to tell you all about a new website to visit. The Shoshone County Fire

Summer is here, ARE YOU READY FOR WILDFIRE???? Make sure that your home or
campsite is as safe as it can be. If you have a fire ring assure there is no vegitation for
at least 5 feet in all directions. Around your home you should make sure that vegitation
is thinned and trees are limbed up 100 feet from your home. Wood piles should not be
stacked against your home. HAVING A DEFENSIBLE SPACE is what keeps your home
from burning and it keeps firefighters who come to protect your home safe as well.

Clearing around your home can be difficult. If you are unable to do the work yourself
there are county programs to help. If you have questions about getting help,
conducting a control burn or if you would like more information about fire safety such
as smoke detectors or home fire safety inspections you can always contact us at the
